Biography:

Emma Stoneman is an Australian artist who has worked in digital printmaking for over two decades. Her work is strongly grounded by imagery of the built landscape which she transforms into abstract compositions. This work periodically investigates metaphorical comparisons between the built environment and the structure and function of the human body, whilst at other times she explores and comments on themes of place, the human condition and social issues more broadly. Stoneman has a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Pri Read Morentmaking from RMIT University, Melbourne. She also has tertiary qualifications in building design and is employed in an architectural studio which informs and influences her artistic practice. Stoneman has exhibited throughout Australia and internationally in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Taiwan, Russia and New Zealand. Her work has been commissioned by the Print Council of Australia. She is represented in public collections including the National Library of Australia, State Library of Victoria and Federation University Australia and her work is also held in private collections worldwide.
