Jim Monson

Biography:

Jim Monson was born in Minneapolis (USA) on the 23rd of June 1943. He received his BA, MA and MFA degrees from American universities where he studied Intaglio printmaking with Mauricio Lasansky. In 1969 moved to Paris to continue his work at Atelier 17 under the guidance of S.W. Hayter. He returned to the States briefly in 1973 to teach at the University of Wisconsin, but was back in Paris in 1974 for another three years. In 1977 he returned to teach at several US universities, but settled definitively in the south of Read More France in 1985. Here he built his home and studio. Since 1981 he has been working in colour reduction printing. In 2014 he modified his approach to relief printing to what he calls the negative to positive approach using a single matrix.
