Layli Rakhsha

Biography:

Layli Rakhsha is an artist and academic in Perth, Western Australia. She was born in Iran and immigrated to Australia in 1999. Rakhsha completed her PhD at Curtin University- Western Australia in 2019. She uses screen printing and photography in most of her projects. While focusing on the idea of home, Rakhsha reflects the social and cultural relationship between personal experiences, feelings and attachment to a particular place in most of her works. She has had several solo exhibitions and participated in many group Read More exhibitions in Australia and abroad. She was also a finalist for Alice Art Prize and Collie Art Prize in Australia. Rakhsha has been an artist in residence at different institutions and art centres such as Vancouver Art Centre, Fremantle Art Centre (FAC), Peth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) and Perth Centre for Photography (PCP). Rakhsha is currently a sessional lecturer at Curtin College and a community education consultant at Artsource.
