Biography:

Born on 20 January 1974 in Frýdek-Mistek. Graduate of the Art and Industry Secondary School in Brno, specialization: painting. In 1997 he was awarded an M.A. degree at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Ostrava (Department of Visual Arts – Studio of Liberated and Applied Graphics under the supervision of Prof. Eduard Ovč.ček). In 2006 he completed the third-cycle programme (Ph. D.) at the University of Silesia (Branch in Cieszyn, Faculty of Arts, Art Institute). In 2015 the University of Silesia (B Read Moreranch in Cieszyn, Faculty of Arts, Art Institute) awarded him the title of doctor habilitatus in the field of Visual Arts. Since 1998 he has been working as a teacher at the Department of Graphics and Drawing, Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava. In his artistic activities he deals with graphics, painting and experimental graphic techniques. Marek Sibinský develops his themes in series of topics. He combines current reflection on present times with latest printing technologies – first of all screen printing and digital printing followed by an experimental technique employing different forms of overprint which the artist further develops and explores further possibilities of solutions which appear in the process of creation. Marek Sibinský intensely studies the problem of inter-human communication by means of new media and in connection with the subject matter of his creativity he tries to articulate the sense of information which in everyday hustle-and-bustle attacks human beings from all sides, from different areas and with different quality standards.
