Biography:

Born in Rødven, Norway 1951. Work with different printmaking- and other techniques since 1991, traditional and experimentally. Sissel Stangenes is a graduate of The Academy of fine arts in Bergen, Norway, SHKD in Bergen,Norway and Academie Minerva, Groningen, Netherlands. She is a member of The Association of Norwegian Visual Artists, member of Association of Norwegian Graphic Artists, and member of Association Visual artist NorthNorway. Including Norwegian Graphics, Statens Høstutstilling (National Autumn Exhibition), Den NordNorske Kunstutstilling, (North of Norway Exhibition), and Uppsala Universitets Bibliotek, Sweden. She has been Festival artist in Molde International Jazzfestival in 1999, and at Ivar Aasen Festival, Ørsta in 2003 with the exibition EXILE. Sissel Stangenes has performed with various writers and poets, among other things, the Swedish-Kurdish exile poet Rafik Sabir from Uppsala/ Sweden. She is represented in the national and private collections, and in different other artproject. She has created several art project for children and youth. Sissel Stangenes live and work in the West Coast of Norway, and have established her own Art Centre and Gallery at Hustad in Romsdal, right by the sea.
