Susan Denniston, born in Pittsburgh, PA, is a printmaker, painter, and mixed media artist living and working near Boston, Massachusetts. Aspects of loss and reinvention, erosion and renewal mark her work. Whether working with inherited family linens and decaying quilt fragments or powerful images of the nearby concrete seawall at the mercy of a rising tide, her work looks at fragility and vulnerability and our certain impermanence. Her prints hold onto threads of hope and persistence; they are woven with glimpses of Read Moreher personal story. A delicate calmness on the surface of the paper belies an uneasiness and subtly asks, “What remains and how will we respond?” She has studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and MassArt, Boston. She has returned over several years for residencies at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA and Studio Camnitzer in Italy. She has shown her work in various group shows locally in the Boston area, nationally, and internationally in Krakow, Havana, Venice, and Finland. www.susandenniston.com
