Biography:

Isabel Cauas was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1966, where she currently lives and works. She works predominantly in the medium of printmaking, but also in drawing, painting and metalsmith. In 1990 she earned a Bachelor’s degree in printmaking at the Facultad de Artes, Universidad de Chile. Between 1990 and 1995 took several art workshops at UCI, and UCSD, USA. She has had 15 solo shows since 1990 and numerous group and biennial exhibitions in Chile and abroad, places like Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Santia Read Morego, a solo printmaking exhibition at the The Frank Museum of Art, Ohio USA and this year part of “Gráfica América” at MOLAA, CA, USA. Now she is working on her solo show “Paisaje Extendido” to be opened on June 2019, Chile. Isabel Cauas has received several awards, recognitions and grants throughout her career among them a fellowship granted by Fondart by the Chile’s government, a scholarship awarded by The Pollock-Krasner Foundation NY, USA and during 2016 she was invited for 3 months period residency at Guanlan Printmaking Base, China. Since 1988 she has taught printmaking, drawing and metalsmithing at various universities and at Taller 99, a highly regarded not-for-profit printmaking studio in Santiago, which she also helps to operate as part of its Directive.
