Mari Aspola, born 1947, is a printmaker and an art teacher. Alongside of the teaching work she has actively kept alive her own artistic work, concentrating later in printmaking. For decades now she has actively taken part in group and joint exhibitions, and also had her own solo exhibitions. She lives and works in Rauma and in Helsinki, and is a member of the Finnish Printmakers Association. From the year 2004 onwards the artist has concentrated in a more ecological method of printmaking, board graphics, using car Read Moredboard as a plate. This enables her to create collage prints of several layers and concentrate on colour. The artwork has got the quality of small, silent movements. She makes series of prints, resulting more often than not, in unique pieces of art, variations of a theme.
