One region, two international events. The Global Print and the Bienal do Douro are both based on the oldest demarcated wine region in the world - the Douro and winner of two heritages of humanity granted by UNESCO is world renowned both for its vineyard landscape and for the archaeological heritage of the Côa Valley. Here is the largest sanctuary of Paleolithic engraving of the world, but the Douro is also in the contemporary scene of the biggest events of graphic art in the world, creating a strength and dimension that goes beyond the borders of the country and is projected for infinite horizons.
With around 500 artists from more than 60 countries, only in this 3rd edition, the Global Print is one of the largest printmaking events in the World and the 2nd largest in Portugal, surpassed only by Bienal do Douro.
After the success of the Bienal do Douro, already going to its 11th edition, the curator Nuno Canelas and his team have created the Global Print. The exhibition came to compensate the lack of events during the Bienal's breaks.
